How do you tell if you are becoming a better version of yourself vs yesterday or last year?
1. What did you recently get to know new
List down your recently acquired knowledge in the area you care about. For e.g. something you learned from a book, something you learned from a podcast. Once you record down and see the list for yourself, it will become cleare that you have become a better version of yourself.
2. What recent challenge did you go through
Did you have a challenging problem in a relationship or even at work recently? Or even in the last year? Once you recollect and review how you’d gone past the issue, you would realise that you have become a better version of yourself for having resolved the issue.
3. Look back at your old photo
This helps me. When you look at your photo from a decade back or even 2 years back and you realise you look better now somehow than before…that must be because you have become a better version of yourself!
4. Read an old entry in your diary
Similar to the first and second, reviewing entries from the past helps you realise how much you have grown as a person. When you read how you felt or went about thinking about an issue of that moment from the past, you would definitely realise that you now know something a little more, a little better. And when the same issue occurs, you just know that you would handle in a better way.
5. What challenge are you going through right now?
Think about the kind of challenge you are working through currently. Would you have been able to go through that 2 years or 10 years back? Chances are unlikely. The challenge is the most challenging and difficult one yet in your life. You know you can go through your current challenges the best now, not before. That is a reminder that you are a better version of yourself now. Similarly, this current challenge is something worth working through for you to get to the next step in your life, which is an even better version of yourself.
