Mindset – Tell yourself you’re doing the best you can
Top self care tip is in having a positive mindset. Whatever situation you’re in, you could reframe your mind to be in a positive state. And this is 100% within your control. Why would you not do this for yourself?
When you tell yourself that you’re enough, you are already doing the best you can, you feel free of worry and judgment that sets you in a good mood. Good mood is needed for the next self care tip so make sure you keep yourself in this good mood. When you know you’re not doing the best you can, the moment you tell yourself this, you will switch to
Mindset you are doing the best you can – in terms of getting sufficient rest to your body, feeding yourself good ingredients, not comparing to others but focusing on what makes you happy.
Setting your mind in a positive place, can in turn improve your mindset even further as you become more health conscious. This in turn will get you to feel better about your health as you know you’re putting self care into your diet which in turn will bring actual health benefits and make you feel even better and so on.
Exercise is yet another avenue of self care. As you get started on whatever exercise regime you find doable and sustainable, you will feel great that you are putting some self care into your health. This in turn will release happy hormones to get you to stay in the positive and happy state longer. Over time, you will see actual health benefits like feeling a more flexible body, a lighter and stronger body that you feel happy with and in turn will make you want to continue.
Serve your passion for the good of others
Jay Shetty defined purpose as using your passion in the service of others. This is a simple yet a profound definition of purpose.
Be sure that every one of us has a purpose. Before that, be sure that every one of us has our passion.
Finding your passion is super important for your own happiness. After finding your passion, make sure you experience using your passion to help someone else as that experience will convince you to repeat the service, helping more people in the process, bringing you more joy.
A space consultant or designer one said, wow-ing a client with before and after pictures of their space is just part of what you’re paid to do as a space consultant. What makes her feel amazing is when the client leverages the new space to achieve something greater. This is an example of serving your passion for the good of others. This is also when a human gets the highest level of happiness and satisfaction in life.
For myself, I realised I love sharing the knowledge on well aging that I have gained with others. I feel the happiest when someone tells me that they’ve benefited in some way by listening to what I had to share and they put that thing into practice in their own lives. This is a validation of helping someone with my knowledge. This blog is exactly that..about sharing what I have learned to be useful and meaningful in my own journey, hoping that more people would feel the same to age well.
Be grateful
Being grateful in your day to day is an amazing feeling. Focus on what you have. Imagine not having that for a second. That should make you feel grateful for that thing immediately. You feel this when you have a small cut in your finger. How that constant pain makes you realise the importance of an injury-free finger.
Being loudly grateful in your head, in your thoughts will make it easier for you to get back to the first self care tip. So the 3 tips can perpetuate and make you feel more happy with the life you are having.
Practising the 3 self care tips in the 40s will ensure a good path to your happy life into the 50s and beyond. More about happy life habits in the prior blog.
