I believe in the practice to model the life you want to live.

Often, this modelling is slow, quiet and consistent. It’s never perfect in the beginning but definitely gets you closer to perfection than when you started.

Being your own role model isn’t about perfection or performance. It’s about integrity. It’s about letting your daily choices reflect the life you believe in even when no one is watching.

Stop waiting for permission

Many people live as if their real life will begin later:

  • when the work calms down
  • when the kids are older
  • when they’re more confident
  • when they’ve earned more money

But the life you want isn’t something you arrive at one day. It’s something you practice now.

If you want a calm life, you can’t build it with constant urgency.
If you want freedom, you can’t keep abandoning yourself to please others.
If you want peace, you can’t live in quiet resentment.

You don’t wait for permission to live differently.
You model it.

Modelling is quieter than motivation

Motivation is loud. It comes in waves. It needs energy and emotion.

Modelling is calm. It doesn’t rush. It doesn’t announce itself.

Modelling the life you want looks like:

  • choosing rest without justifying it
  • speaking honestly even when it’s uncomfortable
  • keeping your word to yourself (e.g. keeping your good daily habits)
  • designing your days to support you, not drain you

These choices rarely go viral. But they compound.

Sometimes, this means getting yourself the extra plush new towels once a year. Towels that only you notice but brings joy to you as it touches your skin. It means nothing to the outside world and does not show externally but means quiet luxury and brings you smiles.

Your nervous system is always watching

Your body learns from what you repeatedly show it.

If you model a life of constant pressure, your nervous system learns to stay on edge.
If you model self-respect, it learns safety.
If you model ease, it learns trust.

This is why well aging isn’t about supplements or routines alone—it’s more about the tone of your life over time.

You age in alignment or in resistance.
You age in self-trust or self-betrayal.

And your body keeps the score. Just as your body keeps score of what you feed it with.

Let’s feed our bodies with laughters, nutrition, sufficient sleep daily. Your body can’t go too wrong this way.

Be the example you once needed

At some point, many of us realize we’re no longer looking for someone to follow. This is also why I decided on Being Your Own Role Model framework.

We’re looking for a way to live that actually feels good to us.

Being your own role model means asking:

  • Would I respect the way I’m living if I were watching myself from the outside?
  • Does my life reflect my values—or just my responsibilities?
  • Am I modelling presence, or just endurance?

You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to live in a way that feels honest.

This is how the life you want becomes real

The life you want doesn’t come from vision boards alone.
It comes from boring but meaningful repetition as I wrote about few months ago.

From the way you treat your time.
From the way you speak to yourself.
From the way you honour your limits.
From the way you choose what matters—and release what doesn’t.

Model that.
Every day.

Not perfectly.
Just truthfully.

Because the most powerful role model you will ever have is the one you choose to be.
